"Monster Mega Breakfast?!" 8,000 Calories? *Burp!*

Try to digest this recent article, and keep in mind that the recommended daily caloric intake is around 2,400 calories!

PORTISHEAD, England, Jan. 13 (UPI) --A British cafe is challenging customers to finish an 8,000-calorie "Monster" breakfast including six fried eggs, six slices of bacon and six sausages.

The "Monster Mega Breakfast" at Corner Cafe in Portishead, England, includes six slices of bacon, six sausages, six fried eggs, two three-egg omelets, four portions of mushrooms, six slices of black pudding, four servings of fried potatoes, six hash browns, one bowl of fries, four onion rings, four slices of toast, two pieces of fried bread, half a grilled tomato, two portions of beans and two portions of tomatoes.

The breakfast contains 8,000 calories, well over the 2,000-2,400 daily calories recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a person aged 19-30.
Workers said five people have attempted the $22.64 breakfast "challenge," but none have been able to finish it in the allotted hour.

Manager Lucy Butler said any customers who manage to finish the breakfast -- participants must be over the age of 18 and have to stop if they get ill -- will get their picture on a "champions" wall and will receive a mega breakfast voucher, a mini trophy and a keyring.

"The idea came about from watching Man V Food. Me and my sister thought we had to do it," Butler told the Plymouth Herald. "If we we were to do it, we thought, why not try to make it the biggest in Britain? We don't make any money off of it. It's just a bit of fun. We are quite a happy cafe and it just came about as fun -- nothing else."
